About Connect, Read and Discover
Great news! Connecting Women has an intercultural book group since September 2009.
We meet monthly to review and discuss a selected book all group members have read. The venue will change each month because we meet at different members' homes on Tuesday evenings. The small group size will ensure an adequate discussion opportunity for all participants.
The focus will be on novels from different countries and cultures published in English (but could be a translation) and participants from different nationalities and with experience of living in different parts of the world will give the discussion extra dimension.
So far we've read:
- 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' by Moshin Hamid (Pakistan / USA)
- 'Beijing Coma' by Ma Jian (China)
- 'The Impostor' by Damon Galgut (South Africa)
- 'Kafka on the Shore' by Haruki Murakami (Japan)
- 'The Lost Dog' by Michelle de Kretser (Australia)
- 'The Masterpiece' by Anna Enquist (NL)
- 'Under the Volcano' by Malcolm Lowry (Mexico)
